#6094 : A rabbi passes away
A rabbi passes away and, after some time, the congregation suggests that the rebbetzin should re-marry. It is a small village, and the only available candidate is the local butcher. Because she was a accustomed to living with a scholar-rabbi, she is reluctant to this arrangement, but she finally agreed.
After the marriage, on Friday night after she had bathed in the mikvah, the new husband tells her, "My mother always said that before the beginning a of shabbos, it is a mitzvah to have sex before going to synagogue." So, they do.
After shul he tells her, "According to my father, it is a mitzvah to make love before lighting the candles." They do it again.
At bedtime he says, "My grandfather told me that one should always have sex on shabbos night." Again, they do so.
The next morning he tells her, "My aunt says that a religious Jew always starts the shabbos by having sex." So, once again they do.
At the market on Sunday she and meets a friend who asks, "Nu, so how is the new husband?"
"Well," she replies, "An intellectual he isn't, but he comes from a wonderful family!" Rebette Francene Zipkin-Levin aka "Rebbi"
